We, the family of Cynthia Smith, are grateful to God for blessing us with this wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, friend, and Christian for so many years.

We appreciate your prayers, cards of condolences, visits, telephone calls, flowers, and all the deeds of kindness rendered to us during this period of our bereavement. It is a consolation to know that we have friends who care and are willing to share.

We want to express our gratitude to the pastor and elders who attended to the needs of our family. Likewise, we also want to express thanks to Paradise Funeral Home & Chapel for their professional service.

Obituary

Cynthia Elaine Carr was born on March 22, 1940, at Hargreaves Hospital in Mandeville, Jamaica, to William Chisolm Carr and Phyllis Geraldine McNally. Her early years were filled with the warmth of a loving family, including her brother Earl Alexander Carr, born a year after her. Cynthia's journey through life was marked by moments of resilience, achievement, and profound love.

In her formative years at Claunel Prep-School in Westmoreland, Cynthia displayed a spirited competitiveness, particularly in academics, often recounted fondly by her father. She shared a special bond with her father over their love for Nat King Cole's music, which brought them joy and laughter in their home.

Transitioning to Knox College for high school was a defining period for Cynthia, where her academic, athletic, and social prowess shone brightly. Her achievements in athletics were celebrated by her family, a testament to her dedication and talent.

After graduating from the University of the West Indies, Cynthia married her childhood sweetheart, Hugh Smith, on August 1, 1964. Beginning her career as a registered nurse at Kingston Public Hospital, Cynthia's compassionate care touched the lives of many with warmth and kindness.

Two years after welcoming their first child, Andre, Cynthia and Hugh relocated to the Bronx, New York, where Cynthia served as an emergency room nurse at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. They joyously welcomed their daughter Julie before seeking a warmer climate in Plantation, Florida, where their youngest child, Kim, completed their loving family.

Beyond her professional achievements, Cynthia's life was deeply guided by her faith in Jesus Christ. Her dedication to following the teachings of the Holy Spirit was evident in her unconditional love and compassion for others.

Cynthia is survived by her beloved husband, Hugh Smith; children, Andre, Julie, and Kim; son-in-law, Smith; grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Jacqueline, Patric (grandson-in-law), Ezra, Trinity, Eli, Israella, and Israel; and great-grandchildren, Alara and Leela. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, yet her legacy of kindness and faith will be cherished forever.

May Cynthia Elaine Carr's soul find eternal peace in the embrace of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Obituary composed in loving memory by her brother, Earl Carr Sr. and nephew, Earl Carr Jr.
